Discover the Musical Journey of Stan Kolev — Chapter Five.

Music has been the center of my life for decades, but I’ve learned that creativity needs balance. When you spend long hours in the studio or travel constantly, it’s easy to lose that balance. Over the years I’ve realized that taking care of my mind and body is just as important as finishing the next track.

When I step away from the studio, I focus on activities that ground me—things that keep me connected to the present moment.

Staying Centered

Practices like yoga and meditation play a big role in keeping me centered. They help me slow down, clear my mind, and reconnect with my inner rhythm. Music itself is spiritual in many ways, but these practices help me maintain clarity and perspective outside of the creative process.

When the mind is calm, ideas flow more naturally. Some of my best musical concepts have appeared after moments of stillness.

Movement and Energy

Physical activity is another key part of my routine. I enjoy tennis, jogging, and working out, not only for health but also for energy. Producing music and performing late nights requires stamina, and staying active helps me keep up with the demanding schedule of touring and studio work.

Movement also sparks creativity. Sometimes a rhythm or melodic idea will come to me while running or exercising. The brain works differently when the body is in motion.

The Importance of Family

Beyond the music, one of the most important parts of my life is spending time with my daughter. Family reminds me what truly matters. No matter how busy touring or producing becomes, those moments keep me grounded and bring perspective to everything else.

Being a father has also changed how I view life and creativity. It adds another emotional dimension that often finds its way into my music.

Gratitude for the Journey

When I look back on the years—from my first drum lessons in Bulgaria to performing around the world—I feel grateful. The biggest highlight of my career isn’t a specific release or performance. It’s the simple fact that I’ve been able to spend my life doing something I truly love.

Traveling the world, collaborating with talented artists, and connecting with listeners through music is something I never take for granted.
